Listen to Kevin Devine cover Nada Surf as part of his upcoming split series
For his pair of full-length albums released in 2013, Kevin Devine launched his own label, Devinyl Records. Though he used the label to release both Bulldozer and Bubblegum, his current project—a split 7-inch series that runs throughout 2015— proves he’s in no way averse to collaboration. The first three splits have already been announced, pairing Devine with Matthew Caws of Nada Surf, Meredith Graves of Perfect Pussy, and the indie-poppers in Tigers Jaw. The A.V. Club is premiering the first song from the series’ first entry—the only split to see the artists covering each other—as Devine tackles Nada Surf’s “Inside Of Love,” from the band’s 2002 album Let Go.
In addition to collaborating with various artists across the series’ run, Bad Timing Records will be releasing the splits. The first comes February 24, with new records following every couple months through the year’s end. Though initial subscriptions went quick, Bad Timing has released more options for those looking to beef up their vinyl collections. In addition, each split will receive a digital release, with pre-orders available now. Today also marks the launch of Devine’s tour with Into It. Over It. and Laura Stevenson that runs through February, followed immediately by dates with Dads and Field Mouse. Dates for those shows can be found at his website.
