Planet's most boring parents score big win as Little Tikes rolls out new "soulless beige" line of toys

Finally: A silly toy car for parents sick of their stupid beautiful children clashing with their carefully crafted earth tones aesthetic.

Planet's most boring parents score big win as Little Tikes rolls out new

In big news for anyone who’s ever told Nurse to tell the governess to inform little Jayden that his taste in plastic cars is simply too gauche to be tolerated any further, toy brand Little Tikes has announced that it’s finally rolling out a line of plastic toddler toys to appease the planet’s most persistently boring adults. Specifically, several news outlets have reported on the recent announcement of the company’s “Cloud Collection,” which reimagines several classic Little Tikes items—including the basketball hoop, and the iconic Cozy Coupe “foot to floor” red and yellow car—without all those nasty primary colors clashing with the careful balance of taupe you’ve set up in your sitting room. Finally, you’ll quietly muse while sitting in your beige sweater on your sand dune sofa while sipping a nice dust-colored wine: A home capable of containing children without having to look like it.

And, look: We get that toy designs have to evolve with the eras. (We didn’t get mad when we found out Little Tikes now sells a $33 “Cozy E-Charging Station” for baby’s first Ed Begley Jr. cosplay, after all.) But there’s something hilariously depressing about seeing toys that were specifically designed to stand out and excite little brains being subsumed into the beige quagmire referred to as a “stylish modern home” in the company’s marketing for the initiative.

After all, we’ve always considered Little Tikes and toys of its ilk to be all about selling children a fantasy, whether of having their own little car with terrifying eyeballs, or loading a dishwasher, or the natural childhood urge to own your own grocery store self-checkout stand. There’s something way more absurd about pivoting to selling their parents a dream—i.e., that this shit isn’t going to be slathered in brightly colored jelly and cookie puke 90 seconds after it enters your home; have fun balancing that with your earth tones mausoleums, dorks.
