March 2026 TV preview: Steve Carell's HBO dramedy, more Daredevil, and Imperfect Women

Next month might be Oscar season, but TV isn’t falling behind at all, thanks to shows from small-screen staples like Bill Lawrence, Taylor Sheridan, and Michael Patrick King. HBO kicks off March with the dark comedy DTF St. Louis and Lawrence’s Steve Carell-starring Rooster. Meanwhile, Netflix unveils a horror series and a titillating dramedy led by Rachel Weisz. Plus, romance is in the air with Outlander‘s final run, and superheroes continue to make their mark in new seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and Invincible. Here is The A.V. Club‘s guide to what to watch on TV next month.

DTF St. Louis (HBO, March 1)

In this very funny HBO miniseries from Steven Conrad, the mind behind Prime Video’s Patriot, a trio of married suburbanites (played by Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and a wonderfully sweet David Harbour) dip their polite toes into the worlds of infidelity and hookup apps. When the decision to spice up their lives leads to a death, two odd-couple investigators (portrayed by Richard Jenkins and Joy Sunday) try to piece things together. [Tim Lowery]

Vladimir (Netflix, March 5)

Rachel Weisz stars in this sprightly looking limited series as a literature professor at a liberal-arts college who becomes infatuated with a much younger and flirty new colleague (played by Leo Woodall). The dramedy is based on the novel by creator Julia May Jonas, and Kate Robin (Six Feet Under, The Affair) acts as showrunner. John Slattery and Mickey 17‘s Ellen Robertson round out the cast. Rooster (HBO, March 8)

Bill Lawrence is one of TV’s busiest creators right now. His latest project unpacks a complicated relationship between Greg (Steve Carell), an author who accepts a job at a university, and his daughter, Katie (Charlie Clive), who teaches there. The stacked ensemble includes Danielle Deadwyler, Alan Ruck, Phil Dunster, and Connie Britton. [Saloni Gajjar]

Sunny Nights (Hulu, March 11)

Close siblings (played by D’Arcy Carden and the always-welcome Will Forte) with dreams of making their spray-tan business blossom in Sydney find themselves in hot water when one of them gets blackmailed after a one-night stand. Soon enough, they’re tossed into a world of dim criminals, torture, car explosions, and corpse-eating crocodiles. Colin From Accounts‘ Trent O’Donnell directs the comedy series. [Tim Lowery]

The Madison (Paramount+, March 14)

Taylor Sheridan apparently won’t rest until every Hollywood celebrity has worked with him. In The Madison, he rounds up Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, and Matthew Fox for yet another Montana-set drama. They play members of the Clayburn dynasty who, after a tragedy, relocate from New York City in hopes of a fresh start. Beau Garrett, Patrick J. Adams, and Will Arnett also appear. [Saloni Gajjar]

Imperfect Women (Apple TV, March 18)

In this psychological thriller, Mary (Elisabeth Moss) and Eleanor (Kerry Washington) mourn the death of their pal, Nancy (Kate Mara), only to discover that she was keeping several secrets from them. Looking into the case leads to a long list of suspects, including Nancy’s husband (played by Joel Kinnaman), whom Eleanor feels strangely connected to. [Saloni Gajjar]

The Comeback season three (HBO Max, March 22)

Twelve years after The Comeback last aired (and 21 after it debuted), the satirical mockumentary returns. And it’s not entirely surprising that delusional actress Valerie Cherish’s (Lisa Kudrow) latest role is starring in a multi-camera sitcom written entirely by AI. Co-created by Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, the series welcomes new faces Andrew Scott, John Early, and Abbi Jacobson, as well as returning ones like Dan Bucatinsky and Laura Silverman. Daredevil: Born Again season two (Disney+, March 24)

Daredevil: Born Again picks up right after season one’s finale, in which Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) discovered once again the violent extremes that his nemesis, Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), is capable of. In season two, Matt tries to free Fisk’s prisoners in Red Hook, including Tony Dalton’s Swordsman, and gets a little help from his old pal Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). [Saloni Gajjar]

Bait (Prime Video, March 25)

Everyone who’s ever fancast Riz Ahmed as James Bond is in for a treat. The multi-hyphenate, who wrote this series, stars as a struggling actor in London. When he’s suddenly rumored to be up for the next 007, he spends the next four days plotting how to secure the role, bringing his family, friends, and ex-lover into the mix. [Saloni Gajjar]

Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen (Netflix, March 25)

Walking down the aisle can be quite scary, especially for someone like Rachel (Camila Morrone), who can’t decide if the guy she’s tying the knot with next week is right for her. This horror series, from creator Haley Z. Boston (Brand New Cherry Flavor), also stars Adam DiMarco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Gus Birney. [Saloni Gajjar]
