The X-Men have found their Germann Angel

Asa Germann will join the graduates of Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters in the MCU in 2028.

The X-Men have found their Germann Angel

As we approach Doomsday, Marvel is no longer playing coy about who it’s suiting up for its upcoming X-Men reboot. The biggest movie of the year, Spider-Man: Brand New Day introduced the MCU’s first X-affiliated mutant, Jean Gray (Sadie Sink), and began rolling out casting announcements shortly after. Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, Inde Navarette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Kit Connor as Cyclops are jumping in the Blackbird for the film. We can add Asa Germann to the list.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Germann is in final talks to play Angel in the film, directed by Thunderbolts* helmer Jake Schreier. Audiences may remember Germann from The Boys’ spin-off Gen V or as Lucas Bowden, one of the many dead teens from Scream 7. The film would mark Angel’s first appearance in an X-Men film since 2016’s Apocalypse. Breaking from tradition, it will be the first live-action Angel not played by an actor named Ben—Ben Hardy in X-Men: The Last Stand and Foster in Apocalypse. It’s nice to see Marvel still taking risks 20 years into this thing. They must’ve been torn, because Germann reportedly auditioned for Cyclops before Marvel realized there’s something Ben about this kid.

The MCU X-Men is expected in theaters on May 5, 2028.
