Lillard has had a pretty busy few months, though. He recently returned to the Scream universe for the franchise’s (rather unfortunate) seventh outing, and just had a main role in Daredevil: Born Again. He’s also slated for Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie series, and appeared in the Five Nights At Freddy’s sequel late last year. Not bad for an actor Quentin Tarantino slammed for no real reason at all as that last movie was opening. In fact, the dig may have helped. After Tarantino’s comments, Gunn, along with several other Hollywood heavy hitters, publicly supported Lillard, with the director calling him “one of my favorite guys (and actors).”
The two definitely have history. Outside of the two Scooby-Doo movies that Gunn wrote and Lillard starred in, Gunn pitched Warner Bros. a Plastic Man movie starring Lillard way back in 2000. That didn’t happen, but Lillard has been vocal about wanting to get in a Gunn movie for the last few years. Great to see it finally work out!
