Matthew McConaughey says he would do more True Detective
It’s been a while since anyone has toyed around with speculative #TrueDetectiveSeason2 rumors, but Deadline has come along to fix that. The site recently posted a lengthy and fascinating interview with Matthew McConaughey, in which the actor says that if HBO had initially approached him with more than one season of True Detective, he would have turned it down. However, now that his season is complete—and he had such an amazing experience—he would totally go back, if asked to do so. “I liked True Detective, the whole series and the experience of making it, so much that I’d be open to doing another one now,” McConaughey says. “At the time, I was looking at six months and not beyond that.”
Still, probably best not to get your hopes up: We already know that the next season of True Detective will feature three all-new leads (including a female) in a totally new story, and it’s unlikely that any of them will be played by McConaughey. Though if McConaughey were to return to the show—and those Brad Pitt casting rumors panned out—this video of the guys being neighborly in New Orleans would take on a whole new meaning.
