King Kong stomps onto Godzilla's turf in Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters season 2 trailer

A new Titan has entered the game. In the words of Kurt Russell: “We need Kong and Godzilla.”

Apple has unveiled a new teaser for Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters, and say what you will about Apple’s Godzilla TV show, but it lives up to its title. Not only does the show feature monsters, but A-List monsters. We’re talking Godzilla and King Kong, who was teased during a cliffhanger to the season one finale and finally makes his proper chest-pounding debut on the series. The show could rest on its laurels, focusing on its dual timelines: Kurt Russell’s Lee Shaw in the modern day and son Wyatt Russell’s Young Lee Shaw in the past—or even on John Goodman’s William Randa and Workaholic Anders Holm’s young William Randa. But this is a show worthy of Kings of the Monster, featuring the big guy smashing buildings as his fellow Titans threaten humanity. This time, the Russells face their greatest challenge yet: The mighty Titan X.

Here’s the synopsis:

Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon. As previously announced, season two will feature Kong, Godzilla and introduce a new Titan: the enigmatic Titan X that is now officially on the loose. Titan X isn’t just another monster; it’s a living cataclysm. When its massive bioluminescent form breaks the surface of the ocean, the world seems to hold its breath. In Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two, Titan X stands at the center of the mystery – an ancient force emerging from the deep, its purpose uncertain, its power unmatched, its awe and terror in equal measure.

In addition to the Russells and Holm, the show stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, and Joe Tippett.

The 10-episode second season of Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters stomps onto Apple TV on February 27, with new episodes premiering every Friday until May 1.
