Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight was one of The A.V. Club’s favorite movies of 2016, painting a rich coming-of-age portrait of a young black kid from Miami coming to terms with his identity. It also set the record for lowest-budgeted Best Picture winner in Academy Awards history. Helping to bring Barry Jenkins and Tarell Alvin McCraney’s vision to life was production designer Hannah Beachler.
