National Geographic Channel pulls Neil deGrasse Tyson's StarTalk

Over the last few months, several allegations of sexual misconduct have come out against Neil deGrasse Tyson, the astrophysicist and television host from Fox’s Cosmos revival and the National Geographic Channel’s StarTalk. New episodes of Cosmos aren’t set to premiere until later this year, but Fox and Cosmos producers have already stated that they’re investigating the allegations against Tyson. Now, Nat Geo—which also has a hand in Cosmos—has quietly pulled StarTalk from its schedule as well, with Variety saying that the show will remain on hiatus until that investigation is completed.

The newest season of StarTalk premiered in November but only aired three of its 20 episodes before the allegations against Tyson surfaced. Variety says the show hasn’t been seen on Nat Geo since November 26, and though StarTalk’s page on the network’s website does include information on those first three episodes, it doesn’t say anything about the other 17 or the show’s ongoing hiatus. This comes as Nat Geo was also planning to turn the return of Cosmos into a big “global event” that would’ve involved airing it in 172 countries and in 43 different languages, and considering that Tyson both narrates the series and appears on camera, the network is going to have to have a plan in place before the original premiere date in March.
