Netflix’s Atypical takes on autism and romance in first teaser
Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste
The first glimpse at Netflix’s new series Atypical features just a conversation between mother and son. The latter, played by Keir Gilchrist, is a teen on the autism spectrum who wants to date. His mom—the always wonderful Jennifer Jason Leigh—is supportive but wary. “Mom, I’m getting older,” he says as a means of convincing her. “And at some point I really really hope that I get to see boobs.” The show is created by Robia Rashida, veteran of The Goldbergs and How I Met Your Mother, and also stars Michael Rapaport, taking on the role of the protagonist’s dad. As revealed in this teaser, it’s due out August 11.
