New Birdman trailer features former-superhero Michael Keaton in his underwear
First we had movies. Then we had comic books. Then we had comic book movies. Now, thanks to Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, we have a movie about a fake comic book movie. This is one of those “through the looking glass” moments, right? Birdman stars Michael Keaton—who once played Batman—as an actor trying to get over/embrace the flying animal-themed superhero he used to play. In this new trailer, we see that doing so involves a ton of Michael Keaton running around in his underwear and making screeching bird noises. This trailer also gives us a look at some of Keaton’s supporting cast, which includes fellow comic book movie veterans Emma Stone and Edward Norton, as well as Naomi Watts, Amy Ryan, and Zach Galifianakis. Birdman is actually more of a showbiz satire than a superhero parody, but it still looks bizarre enough to rival even the weirdest superhero movies. Plus, it’s got Michael Keaton in his underwear.
