The line between Nick Offerman the actor and Ron Swanson the character grows blurrier every day, a phenomenon that’s probably at least partly Offerman’s desire not to disappoint fans crazy enough to get his mustachioed visage etched into their skin forever. Or maybe that’s just who Offerman really is—he does actually own a wood shop, and did call his guide to life Paddle Your Own Canoe.
Either way it’s working for him, most recently in a video for Mashable called Simply Genius Shower Thoughts With Nick Offerman. The quotes are compiled from the popular showerthoughts subreddit, devoted to users’ quotidian observations like “once you have a PhD, every meeting you go to becomes a doctor’s appointment” and “technically, we’re all half centaur.” Coming from Offerman’s mouth, these stray thoughts sound like less like rejected Deep Thoughts By Jack Handey and more like something the Buddha would say—if he gave up on vegetarianism, of course.
