Nina Dobrev in talks to join the Flatliners reboot
Nina Dobrev knows a few things about dying and coming back to life thanks to her many years on The CW’s Vampire Diaries, and now she might be able to put that experience to good use by starring in Sony’s reboot of 1990 thriller Flatliners. This comes from Deadline, which says Dobrev is “in talks” for the role of Marlo, “an overachiever who is at the top of her class.” If she gets the part, Dobrev will join Ellen Page and Diego Luna in the film.
The original Flatliners starred Kevin Bacon, Julia Roberts, and Kiefer Sutherland, and focused on a group of medical students who conduct experiments to try and cheat death. Unfortunately, these near-death experiences end up giving the gang some spooky (and deadly) hallucinations that force them to confront difficult truths about their lives, which is probably about as fun as it sounds. This new version is being directed by Niels Arden Oplev (who also directed the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) from a script by Source Code writer Ben Ripley.
