Of course this Darth Vader onesie presents a choking hazard

Call it a homage. Call it a remake. Hell, call it a ripoff if you want: America is in love with Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its numerous nods and callbacks to 1977. Now even the merchandising is throwing back to the dangerous toys of yesteryear with a Darth Vader infant bodysuit that, naturally, presents a choking hazard.

Attempting to recapture the magic of the 1979 mail-order Boba Fett featuring choking-friendly rocket firing action—which was never released to the public, despite what your best friend in third grade’s cousin told you—this Darth Vader onesie features three snaps that, it was soon discovered, could randomly detach (and apparently looked delicious to babies). The onesies were sold “at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and aboard various Disney-themed cruise ships through most of 2015,” according to Gizmodo.

There have been no reports of injuries due to the snaps detaching, but Disney is recalling the bodysuits just in case. The Consumer Product Safety Commission advises contacting Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to return the suits for a full refund, which, as any collector knows, is going to make this particular piece of Darth Vader merchandise very valuable in the future. That’s provided your child didn’t stain it…or eat the snaps.
