Offset's doing just fine after Cardi B split
Offset is slated to drop his debut solo album this Friday, and, gosh, we’re just really hoping there’s no love songs on the thing. Playing them night after night on tour, one might imagine, might not be so healthy for the Migos member, who was just flicked into the ether by “Bodak Yellow” rapper (and Grammy darling) Cardi B, presumably due to his wandering eye. “It might take time to get a divorce,” Cardi said last week in an Instagram video, one which also found her stating that the pair “grew out of love.” Offset’s response? A post in the comments section saying “y’all won.”
Now, Offset’s back online with another brief, enigmatic, and extremely loaded acknowledgement of the situation. “FUCK YALL I MISS CARDI,” he screamed into internet’s dank, dripping halls on Sunday afternoon.
Offset was likely responding to the oodles of press foisted upon Cardi’s Friday night performance at New York City’s Jingle Ball. There, she switched up a lyric in her song “Motorsport” to directly reference the divorce. “I get up set off/ I turn Offset on/ I told him the other day, yeah, we gon’ get a divorce.” (The original lyric is “man, we should sell that porn,” itself a reference to the rapper’s long history with sex tapes).
As People reports, Cardi subsequently shared more details about the split during an Instagram live session on Sunday, asserting that the whole ordeal isn’t for publicity, as many have posited. “I really don’t like how people say me and my husband—whatever he is right now to me—is doing it for publicity,” she said, adding, “I’ve been seeing a lot of people say that my relationship was fake. Bitch, there’s certain things called love. People do fall in love.”
Might we suggest he stand outside her mansion with a boombox? Dude’s gotta bring out the big guns if he wants to salvage this thing.
