The 2026 Oscars have come and gone, and, barring the first tie in 13 years, they went off mostly as expected. One Battle After Another was the night’s big winner, taking home trophies for Best Picture and for Paul Thomas Anderson’s direction. All four of the acting winners also went just as many (including Weird Al) predicted, with Michael B. Jordan, Jessie Buckley, Sean Penn, and Amy Madigan earning Oscars for their work. Including Jordan’s win, Sinners took home four awards, with wins for its screenplay, score, and cinematography.
Among One Battle After Another‘s six wins was the first-ever Oscar for casting, which went to Cassandra Kulukundis, who won her first Oscar about two hours before Anderson won his. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein also won three awards. Marty Supreme, which was among the night’s most-nominated films with nine nods, was completely shut out from the winners’ list.
