Don't bother asking the actor if he knows anything about Anton and Paul Baker's future together.

Adults' Owen Thiele says he's kept in the dark about season 3 because he could spill to reporters

Adults hasn’t been renewed for a third season yet (what are you waiting for, FX?), but if it is, don’t expect any juicy details from Owen Thiele—not because he’s mastered the art of lying in interviews, but because he genuinely has no clue. “Honestly, the writers have not told us anything, and they do this on purpose because of things like this. If they had told me, I would have said, ‘Marc, they’re going to be together. They’re getting married officially,'” Thiele told Variety‘s Marc Malkin when asked about the possibility of his character Anton starting a relationship with Jack Innanen‘s Paul Baker. Anton and Paul Baker legally married at the end of season one so that Paul Baker could stay in the country. In season two, they end up in a love triangle with Paul Baker’s girlfriend, Issa (Amita Rao). A raccoon on the loose—yes, you read that correctly—interrupts the trio’s attempt to explore their feelings in a three-way, and Paul Baker and Issa later break up for reasons unrelated to the animal intruder.

Throughout the season, small moments hint at a closeness between Anton and Paul Baker, but they don’t realize or act on their feelings until the finale, when Anton unknowingly broadcasts his feelings for Paul Baker on the local news and the two kiss. That doesn’t mean Anton and Paul Baker are automatically together, though. That would have to be addressed in a third season. And while the pair have a genuine connection, Thiele has reservations about how romantically compatible they’d be, mainly because of their differing dispositions. “I think Paul Baker and Anton have found a really beautiful way to communicate that feels very honest and open and real,” he told Variety. “But I’m wondering what that would be like if they were actually in a relationship. I think right now it’s easy for them to communicate because they have this kind of will-they-or-won’t-they tension that’s building. But once that’s gone, what will happen? Anton’s crazy. Anton yells a lot. He’s constantly screaming. So I don’t know.”
