Hulu's got one more trip to Paradise planned

Paradise finally got around to explaining more of Jane’s backstory this week, and now it’ll have even more time to keep exploring the post-apocalyptic world and the people who live inside it. Hulu confirmed today that the series, which stars Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nicholson, will return for a third season. The series has been a bit hit for the streamer, with Hulu announcing today that season two has been streamed for over 30 million hours since its premiere last month. While those streaming figures can be kind of hard to wrap one’s head around, the platform also highlights that the success of the season has brought another 25 million hours to season one, which indicates that a good chunk of people are tuning into the show now for the first time.

However, days in Paradise do seem numbered. Creator Dan Fogelman has maintained from the beginning that he saw Paradise as a three-season show. “Without giving away too much, each season of the show is a slightly different show, within the same show with the same characters,” he told The Hollywood Reporter after the series premiered last year. “The pilot reveals something at the end, and then there’s twists and turns in the course of the season. … As we go into second season, we pivot a little bit, but in a way that I think is very follow-able. But yes, there’s big moves ahead.” Executive producer John Hoberg also confirmed last month that there would be more backstories to explore in season three, telling THR, “In season three, which we’re already breaking… Everybody gets their due.” He added, “I personally want to know more about Robinson’s [Krys Marshall] backstory, and we’ll get that, along with other characters.” In the meantime, there are still two more episodes of season two to go.
