Paul Rudd would like to remind the Russo brothers that they have his number

Here, at the end of what will forever be known as Electric State Weekend, we can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the Russo brothers won’t be making a streaming movie for at least the next few years. As hard as it is to say goodbye to all those Gray Men, the Russos can finally turn their attention to a movie series they were pretty good at making: The Marvel Cinematic Universe. Returning earlier than expected to direct the next two Avengers movies, Doomsday and Secret Wars, the Russos are already bringing Robert Downy Jr. back in bizarre ways, befitting directors who believe what people want is an AI that can generate Tom Cruise movies. But has anyone thought of that little guy who has the power to crawl up Thanos’ ass and blow him up from the inside? To that end, Paul Rudd wants to remind the Russos that they have his phone number.

“As far as the Russos, they have my number,” Rudd told Collider this week. “They know where I’m at, and that’s all I can say. I don’t really know how to play these things.”

Thus far, it’s unclear which of Earth’s mightiest heroes will be in Avengers: Doomsday, aside from Robert Downey Jr., who will be taking on the role of Doctor Doom for some reason. It’s assumed that The Fantastic Four and Sam Wilson’s Captain America will appear. But considering how divisive the post-Endgame MCU has become, the Russos may ignore the last few phases’ worth of movies and TV shows and start pulling from all those streaming movies they’ve made since 2020. Would Marvel really forget the star of Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania? Could we see Cherry‘s Cherry, The Gray Man‘s Courtland Gentry, or The Electric State‘s Mr. Peanut in a Marvel movie before Shang0Chi returns? Judging by the pace with which Marvel’s looking to expand the Shang-Chi side of things, the smart money is on Mr. Peanut being the star of Avengers: Secret Wars.
