PlayStation gives superhero show Powers a second season
Powers, the superhero/cop show that’s exclusive to the PlayStation Network, has just been given a second season. That comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says Powers will be returning to everyone’s PlayStation consoles—take that, Xbox—at some point in 2016. The show stars Sharlto Copley as a former super-powered guy who becomes a cop after losing his super-abilities, and it’s based on a comic book created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. Jamie Erlicht from Sony Pictures Television says that the second season will “broaden the Powers universe” and introduce “more of the fan-favorite characters.”
THR notes that Powers had the “most-watched series premiere” on the PlayStation, which might have something to do with the fact that the series is free to people who already subscribe to Sony’s PlayStation Plus program. Also, it’s the first scripted series on the the PlayStation Network, so it probably didn’t have much competition for that title. The first thing on Netflix was probably the most-watched thing on Netflix for a while, too.
