Punk torchbearer Erica Freas announces new solo album, streams first song
Erica Freas may not be a household name, but she’s one of the people carrying the torch of Olympia, Washington’s punk scene. She founded Rumbletowne Records as a way to release her music, as well as that of other local bands. Not only that, Freas plays in RVIVR, a pop-punk band that went a long way to spark the dialogue around safe spaces and inclusion at punk shows. For her upcoming solo album, Patient Ones, Freas joined Don Giovanni Records, and The A.V. Club is premiering the first song from the record below. “Please Go Walk In The Rain” showcases Freas’ powerful voice, set atop a punchy acoustic guitar and some swells of cello, she shows that, even unplugged, her songs can pack a punch.
Patient Ones is out September 30 on Don Giovanni Records.
