As reported by numerous outlets including The New York Times, Marvin Isley, former bassist of The Isley Brothers and a Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee, has died at the age of 56. Isley joined his older brothers in the legendary R&B group—which formed in 1954 and is still active—as part of an overhaul of the lineup in 1973. From then until 1984, Isley supplied some of funk's most memorable basslines for a string of bestselling albums and hits like 1975's anthemic "Fight The Power." In 1984 he formed Isley-Jasper-Isley, whose biggest hit was 1985's gorgeous, gospel-infused "Caravan Of Love." Isley lost his legs to diabetes in 1997 before succumbing to the disease Sunday in a hospice near his Chicago home.
