Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch amongst Euphoria season 3 newbies

Welcome to Euphoria watch, where we watch in awe as Euphoria‘s third season comes together against all odds. Earlier this week, the show officially began production—a miracle! And on Friday, HBO announced new and returning cast members to the series. Yeah, all the burgeoning movie stars are coming back. And there are some big names amongst the newbies too: A Different World alum Kadeem Hardison, ex-NFL player Marshawn Lynch, and Spanish pop star Rosalía.

This will be Rosalía’s first real foray into acting, making her the most surprising addition to the cast; though she’d fit right in with the cast of The Idol, and Sam Levinson does have a penchant for casting musicians (like Dominic Fike from last season). “If there’s anything that excites me as much as finding a good melody or a good lyric, it’s becoming a better performer every day,” the singer said in a statement (via Deadline). “Euphoria has been my favorite series of the last few years and I couldn’t be happier and more grateful to be acting alongside all these colleagues that I admire so much and contributing my ‘granito de arena’ to bring Sam’s vision to reality. I can’t wait to share what we’re doing!!! Besitos, Rosi.”

Lynch, meanwhile, has been racking up IMDb credits, from Westworld to Bottoms. He was a standout in Netflix’s improv comedy Murderville and recently appeared in the action comedy Love Hurts. “I’m hella juiced about the show and getting a chance to work with the people in front and behind the camera,” Lynch said in his own statement. “At the end of the day, I’m just thankful for the opportunity.”

Then there’s Hardison, who is not only a sitcom icon but previously played Euphoria star Zendaya’s dad on her Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover. “I was over the moon when I heard the news that I booked it. It’s amazing to be back on set with Z. She and I formed a tight friendship while shooting K.C. Undercover and we’ve stayed close, so this is truly special,” Hardison said in his statement. “Sam, Ashley, the entire cast and crew have all been great to work with and we’re all very happy to be shooting it here in LA, especially after the travesty that thousands here just experienced. Our hearts go out to everyone affected and here’s to hoping more productions follow suit and come back to Los Angeles to shoot.”

In addition to these high-profile guests, the third season of Euphoria will also feature Darrell Britt-Gibson (She Taught Love), Priscilla Delgado (Julieta), James Landry Hébert (1883), and Anna Van Patten (Gossip Girl) in guest roles. According to Deadline, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Suicide Squad) and Toby Wallace (Babyteeth) have joined the cast as series regulars.

There are some notable absences from these confirmations. Barbie Ferreira and Storm Reid officially bowed out a while ago, and Deadline reports that Algee Smith and Nika King were not listed amongst the cast. That would be unfortunate for King, since she stated publicly last year she could really use the work. However, Dominic Fike wasn’t listed either, but Variety reports he is indeed going to reprise his role, so maybe there’s hope for the others yet. Meanwhile, Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry have been upped to series regulars, joining Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, and Eric Dane. Oscar nominee Colman Domingo will also return as a guest star.
