Sadie Sink reportedly joins Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4

Sadie Sink is the latest actor to join the Marvel machine. Deadline reports that the Stranger Things star has officially been cast in the next Spider-Man movie, although details of her role have not yet been disclosed. The trade reports that Sink’s character will be “significant,” positing that she could play either X-Men character Jean Grey (previously portrayed by Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner) or “another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character.” The trade plays coy, but it’s clearly referring to Mary Jane Watson, played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi’s Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man trilogy.

Of course, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man already has an MJ—his fiancé Zendaya—whose participation in the fourquel has yet to be confirmed. Spider-Man: No Way Home did open a literal portal to multiverse story possibilities, though, so pretty much anything is on the table. She could be playing Gwen Stacy or even Peter Porker from the Spider-Verse movies. We just don’t know yet.

What we do know is that the film is set to start production whenever Tom Holland (and perhaps also Zendaya) return from their Odyssey with Christopher Nolan. The epic production is currently filming in Greece. Sink is also wrapping up a different kind of Odyssey with the final season of Stranger Things. The endgame will begin sometime later this year, nearly a decade after it first began in 2016.
