As promised by yesterday’s trailer for the trailer, this morning Warner Bros. released the first official trailer for the upcoming all-female (well, mostly female—hi, James Corden) heist flick Ocean’s 8. The trailer opens with Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) at her parole hearing, saying that, if given another chance at civilian life, she just wants to get a job and make a few friends.
She follows through on that promise, pairing up with the glamorous Lou (Cate Blanchett) to assemble a team that includes jewelry maker Amita (Mindy Kaling), couturier Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), career criminal-turned housewife Tammy (Sarah Paulson), street hustler Constance (Awkwafina), megastar Daphne Kruger (Anne Hathaway) and hacker Nine Ball (real-life Met Gala queen Rihanna) to pull off a high-fashion heist at one of the biggest New York social events of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Met Gala. (That explains the Kim Kardashian/Kendall Jenner cameos.)
Ocean’s 8 arrives in theaters June 8, 2018, one month after the Catholicism-themed real-life 2018 Met Gala.
