HBO Max makes streaming Schitt's Creek its bailiwick

2026 somehow found another way to take a turn for the worse last week with the unexpected death of comedy legend Catherine O’Hara. Friends, family, and fans have been reeling since the news broke, turning to O’Hara’s extensive body of work for comfort. On that end, HBO Max is providing subscribers an easier way to drown their sorrows in Schitt. All six seasons of Schitt’s Creek are coming to HBO Max tomorrow, meaning fans can get all the Moira they crave from a chocablock streaming library.

This is also a great opportunity for those who missed Schitt’s Creek during its initial run on the CBC in Canada and Pop TV in the U.S. Created by Eugene and Dan Levy, the series follows temporarily embarrassed millionaire video-store magnate Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy), his high-maintenance soap-opera star wife Moira (O’Hara), and their idiot kids David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy). Schitt’s Creek ranks among the most unlikely hits in modern TV history, going from an obscure, deep-cable Canadian sitcom to an Emmy heavyweight after benefitting from the ol’ Netflix bump when seasons began streaming there. It was the Suits of its day before receiving 19 Emmy nominations, including 15 in its final season, the most ever for a comedy at the end of its run. It ended up winning nine in total, with all four main cast members taking home acting Emmys in 2020, the first-ever comedy or drama to sweep all four acting categories.

Schitt’s Creek begins streaming on HBO Max on February 7.
