If Scream 7 proved anything, it’s that this franchise, like its killer, is unkillable. Scream 7 overcame the firing of its star, Melissa Barrera, a move that more or less led to the alienation and departure of its other star, Jenna Ortega, and its director, Christopher Landon, to deliver a series low point that is nevertheless the highest-grossing movie in the franchise. So in true Scream fashion, another one is on the way. After dumping Scream 7 on digital about a month after it debuted in theaters (David Ellison, who will likely soon own Warner Bros., couldn’t even commit to a 45-day release window on a movie that’s still making money), Deadline reports that Scream 8 has already found its writers.
