The Scrubs staff welcomes a new generation in revival trailer

What if The Pitt‘s chief medical officer Gloria Underwood was a character played by Vanessa Bayer? The new trailer for the revival of Scrubs has an answer to this question. The medical and television landscape has changed quite a bit since we last saw J.D. (Zach Braff), Turk (Donald Faison), Elliot (Sarah Chalke), and the rest of the gang, but this time their roles are a lot more Dr. Robby than Dr. Santos.

As we see in the first trailer for the Scrubs revival, our heroes have assumed the wise elder roles for a new batch of interns, though it doesn’t seem like they’ve quite settled into them yet. There’s still some dancing and piggybacking in the hallways, and Dr. Reid is struggling to adapt to an automatic paper towel dispenser. The doctors are still looking for their hero moments, though it seems like only X Mayo’s new character has found it, offering the staff a tray of nachos cooked up in the premie warmer.

This tenth season of Scrubs has been in the works for quite a while. Series creator Bill Lawrence said in 2024 that he was planning to have the rival series split the difference between focusing on returning characters and introducing some new ones. Almost exactly a year ago, Lawrence told The A.V. Club that he was looking for the perfect abandoned hospital to film the new season in. Apparently, they found one—or something like one—without much issue. Aside from Braff, Faison, and Chalke, original cast members Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley will also return for the new season. The season will also introduce a bunch of new characters besides Bayer and X Mayo; new additions to the cast include Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Phill Lewis, and Michael James Scott. Scrubs will return with two episodes on February 25 on ABC, with episodes appearing on Hulu the day after.
