Showtime picks up Wikileaks documentary Risk, releases new trailer

Introducing Endless Mode: A New Games & Anime Site from Paste
According to Variety, Showtime has picked up the rights to Risk, a documentary about Wikileaks founder Julian Assange from Citizenfour director Laura Poitras. The film debuted at Cannes last year, and Showtime is partnering with Neon for a theatrical run followed by a TV premiere in the summer. Interestingly, though the movie was made over the course of six years—during which Poitras had “unprecedented access” to Assange—she’s currently updating Risk‘s plot to cover the 2016 presidential campaign and the role Wikileaks played in releasing hacked Democratic National Committee emails. Basically, this stuff is so timely and relevant that Poitras is still making the documentary even after people have seen it.
