Sigur Ros to appear on, write music for the season finale of The Simpsons

Icelandic weirdo band Sigur Ros will appear on the season finale of The Simpsons, making a cameo that should be pretty amusing to the number of Simpsons viewers who are familiar with Sigur Ros.

In the episode airing May 19, Carl (of Lenny and Carl fame) will journey to Iceland, home to his African-Icelandic-American ancestors. As with any visitor to Iceland, at some point he'll run into Sigur Ros, who have also written some new music just for the episode.

This isn’t the first time The Simpsons has gone to Iceland: In 2010, the island nation was the setting for the episode “The Bob Next Door,” during which Homer was blamed for the country’s debt crisis.
