As explained in a press release from DIY Network, Sir Mix-A-Lot’s House Remix will follow the musician as he buys a run-down home, fixes it up, and then flips it. Sure, that may sound an awful lot like the roughly 483 other house-flipping shows currently on the air, but do those programs star a man who once rapped, “It’s real not drama, hate pet llamas / Met Clint Eastwood, slapped his momma”? They do not.
The hour-long special is set in Sir’s native land of Seattle, where Mr. Mix-A-Lot can show off not only his carpentry skills, but his hometown pride. “Seattle is my home, and it’s booming. It’s a music city, a tech hub and the hottest real estate market in the country.” Presumably, his seat on the Seattle Tourism Board is forthcoming. Over the course of the special, the presumably soon-to-be-renamed Sir Flips-A-Lot and his team will “gut an unsightly split-level into a modern, tech-savvy smart home. The property value will skyrocket after he opens up the main level, adds a gorgeous kitchen, incorporates two new bathrooms, and creates a spacious downstairs entertainment room.” No word on if this story has a happy ending, in which the rapper makes a tidy profit, thereby allowing him to remain long, strong, and down to get the friction on.
Sir Mix-A-Lot’s House Remix airs Saturday, June 30 at 8 p.m. ET on DIY Network.
