South Park extended through a 20th season
Building on this summer’s reassurance that South Park wouldn’t just flame out in a cartoon midlife crisis, Comedy Central has announced via press release that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have signed a new contract that will keep new episodes on the air through 2016 and the show’s 20th season. The confirmation comes just in time for tonight’s 15th season finale, a finale that, despite this announcement, will probably cause people to wonder aloud on Twitter on IMDb whether it was “the last South Park ever,” because people on Twitter and IMDb, generally speaking, are very stupid. Anyway, who knows what the next four years will produce in terms of sociopolitical upheaval and pop culture for Parker and Stone to mock? Whatever happens, you can now take solace in knowing that South Park will be there to remind everyone that they should probably calm down and stop acting like such assholes about it.
