Lost's other co-creator to take a crack at Star Wars, too

Disney is back in the business of Star Wars announcements. After refilling fans’ cups with news of a Shawn Levy-Ryan Gosling movie, Hayden Christensen returning for Ahsoka, and a new season of Andor, Lucasfilm is developing another new series, this time from Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick. They wouldn’t be the first father-son duo on the Star Wars beat—lest we forget the Kasdans’ work on Solo. Nevertheless, this is probably good news for people who aren’t still mad at Lost for reasons related to its final season. But those who love Lost will likely see Cuse’s ability to keep the energy up while spinning plates on a magic island as skill transferable to Star Wars.

On the other hand, Lost‘s Star Wars legacy is complicated, given the mixed response to J.J. Abrams’ contributions to the series. As for his son, he comes from a nice pedigree befitting the son of a successful Hollywood screenwriter, working on Watchmen and The Leftovers with Damon Lindelof, also of Lost fame. Ironically, Lindelof put together a writers’ room for a new Star Wars movie in 2022. Six months later, he was “asked to leave the Star Wars universe,” leaving Lucasfilm with no choice but to give the film to Steven Knight. Good luck, Cuses!
