Stephen Colbert has found his Late Show band leader

Stephen Colbert, who just yesterday was making trichophiliacs swoon with a promo featuring his luscious Colbeard, has named a band leader for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. That band leader will be New Orleans jazz musician Jon Batiste, who appeared on the second and third seasons of HBO’s Treme and whose first major-label album is set to be released this fall. A newly clean-shaven Colbert made the announcement via a video filmed at what appears to the Blue Nile club, on New Orleans’ famed musicians’ haven Frenchmen Street:

“His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a ‘Do Not Make Love’ sign,” Colbert said in a statement. Batiste, who is known for his signature “love riots,” appeared on The Colbert Report last July with his band Stay Human promoting their album Social Music. Video of the performance is below, and viewers can look forward to more impromptu sidewalk jams when The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres on CBS on Tuesday, September 8.
