A bunch of stuff from Steve Albini's closet is up for sale

It’s been about a year since Steve Albini died, and a bunch of his belongings have gone up for sale. The website Steve Albini’s Closet has launched in the past few days, selling a few thousand items, all going to benefit the late musician’s estate. While the first round of items posted when the site launched appear to be more or less completely sold out, new stuff will be posted weekly for about the next year.

“Every Friday, expect 100-200 more, a steady stream of the unusual, the rare, the weird and the overlooked,” reads the homepage of the site. “Somewhere in the stacks, about 4,000 pieces wait their turn, plus a corner for the smaller curiosities. No grand plan apart from the slow unveiling of oddities and treasures, week after week, for the next year.”

The first round of items seems like it was pretty exclusively focused on Albini’s vinyl collection, and featured records from XTC, Elvis Costello, and Buzzcocks among many more, and the soundtrack to Deep Throat. Based on the site’s menu, coming weeks will see books, “enthusiasms,” art, posters, flyers, “mysterious bargains,” and zines, among others. You can check out the full list of stuff released during the first week here
