Supergirl casts a General Zod for its season 2 finale
Not to be outdone by Arrow’s decision to bring back an iconic villain for its upcoming season finale, Supergirl is reportedly going to introduce anew iconic villain when its second season wraps up next month. This comes from IGN, which reports that none other than General Zod will be stopping by The CW to terrorize Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl, and presumably demand that people kneel before him. We don’t know much about what Zod will be up to on Supergirl, but his appearance will coincide with the return of Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman, so that seems important.
Zod will be played by Mark Gibbon, who actually has some minor Superman-related experience. He appeared on four episodes of Smallville, playing a bodyguard, a deputy, someone named Mr. Raines, and a second deputy, and he also played a worker on an oil platform who was saved by Superman in Man Of Steel. He also popped up on an episode of Arrow a few years ago, so we’re going to assume that was a stealth cameo from that universe’s version of General Zod.
Supergirl is finally returning from an inexplicable multi-week hiatus tonight, and the season finale will air on May 22.
