Sutton Foster will star in a TV Land pilot that is not a Bunheads revival

The year that ABC Family broke too few hearts by cancelling Bunheads is almost over, but the little show that didn’t quite make it won’t soon be forgotten. No, Sutton Foster won’t get to continue mentoring young dancers in Paradise, California while spouting Amy Sherman-Palladino’s witticisms—and that should make everyone want to create an interpretive dance lament—but Foster may still be on television yet. The Hollywood Reporter says Foster has signed on to Sex And The City creator Darren Star’s new TV Land pilot Younger, based on the novel by Pamela Redmond Satran, about a New Jersey housewife who “decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a 20-something” at a publishing company. It sounds like a disheartening view of what it takes to jumpstart a career today—albeit a strong compliment to Foster, who is definitely in great shape. But Younger is a single-camera comedy, unlike TV Land’s often-tepid multi-cam revival efforts, and it hails from a creator who leans toward biting humor, so perhaps it’s a good fit for the talented Broadway veteran who still deserves to be seen by a wider audience.
