Ted 2 is about civil rights, according to a new red band trailer
The average episode of Family Guy follows a pretty predictable structure: Peter does something reasonably normal, something unexpected happens, everything goes off the rails, and then Peter (or whoever) completely abandons the initial thing they were doing. It’s all about escalation. This trailer for Ted 2—written by/directed by/starring Family Guy mastermind Seth MacFarlane—follows that same structure. It opens with Mark Wahlberg and his sentient teddy bear getting high and coming up with lyrics to the Law & Order theme. Then Ted tells Mark Wahlberg that he and his girlfriend want to have a baby, and we quickly jump to them breaking into Tom Brady’s house so they can steal some of his sperm. From there, naturally, it all escalates (see?) to Mark Wahlberg and Ted fighting the U.S. government for the rights of sentient teddy bears. It might all be a metaphor for something, but this is Ted 2 we’re talking about, so we won’t worry about that.
Ted 2 will be in theaters on June 26.
