Tennessee snubs Justin Timberlake
A resolution introduced by Tennessee State Senator Ophelia Ford to honor Justin Timberlake for "his highly successful music career and his meritorious service (?) to the state of Tennessee" was denied by the state's Republican senators. Timberlake, whose album and song titles like FutureSex/LoveSounds and "Rock Your Body"—not to mention his involvement in the infamous "wardrobe malfunction" scandal with Janet jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl—was deemed too racy for such an honor by the conservative lawmakers. The incident also marks the 1,000,000th use of "bringing sexy back" by hacky journalists, a phrase destined to be the "Where's The Beef?" of the mid-'00s.
