Samuel L. Jackson is right where he wants to be in the first full-length trailer for director Renny Harlin’s new action-thriller The Beast. In the movie, Jackson stars as the President of the United States, who scrambles to stay alive after an unexpected attack by a group of unidentified assailants. His only defenses are his injured Secret Service agent (Joel Kinnaman), who’s bleeding out in the back seat, and his tricked-out, armored vehicle known as The Beast. 

The official synopsis reads: “When a militia of unidentified hostiles coordinates a coup against the U.S., the president is forced to drive the presidential limousine and unlock the full extent of The Beast’s highly classified offensive capabilities to save his injured Secret Service agent, reunite with his wife, and save the world.”

The trailer gives audiences exactly what they expect from Jackson: a no-nonsense character infused with comedic flair and a penchant for shouting profanities. “Nothing about this is standard,” Jackson’s character shouts as he portrays a new kind of politician, one who’s not afraid to activate the vehicle’s miniguns, drink booze while behind the wheel, and defy orders to step into the field and shoot enemies himself. 

The Beast opens in theaters on October 9.
