We’ve known for a while that Ciara Renée will be playing the superhero/alien/reincarnated bird deity Hawkgirl on The CW’s Arrow/Flash spinoff Legends Of Tomorrow, and at Comic-Con the network announced that she’ll be joined by Hawkman, a guy who is also a superhero/alien/reincarnated bird deity, depending on the day of the week. Now, Deadline is reporting that The CW has found a suitably winged actor to play Hawkman, and it’s Falk Hentschel (Reckless, Transcendence, and, uh-oh, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
Also, even though we just made a joke about Hawkman and Hawkgirl having weird backstories, the Deadline article apparently confirms which of those backstories will be used for Legends Of Tomorrow. It refers to Hawkman as “the latest reincarnation of an Egyptian Prince who is fated to reincarnate throughout time along with his soulmate,” adding that he “can access the powers of the Hawk God, Horus,” which turns him into a guy with wings and most likely a funky mask. Like the other Legends Of Tomorrow characters, Hentschel’s Hawkman will make his first appearance in a pair of Arrow and Flash crossover episodes.
