Also, if your name is not Adrianne Palicki, you might have a pretty good shot at playing the new Wonder Woman in The CW's Amazon, the recently announced series that will take another stab at reviving the DC Comics character on the small screen. As reported earlier, Amazon will do so by delving into Wonder Woman's origins, rather than taking the NBC route of attempting to rewrite her as a modern Wonder Woman who wonders whether a woman can truly have it all. As we saw, she can't and it's dumb.
Instead, Amazon's Diana—named "Iris" in the initial casting report to throw everyone off, then feed off the white-hot Internet rage from fans who believed they'd actually changed her name—is a battle-hardened warrior "completely unschooled in our world, our culture, our customs." So, while Palicki's Wonder Woman worked out of a skyscraper, fearlessly dodged traffic, and loved to curl up with a pint of ice cream and gab with her girlfriends, Amazon's Wonder Woman is "delighted—and just as often horrified—by the aspects of everyday life that we take for granted: skyscrapers, traffic, ice cream," and is therefore completely and very specifically different from NBC's version.
