The Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon gets a new promo and a release date
Technically, Disney XD’s upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy cartoon isn’t a canonical part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but based on this new (and very brief) promo, it sure looks like it is. All of the Guardians are there and they all look like they did in James Gunn’s film—from Peter Quill and his red coat to the purple-ish streaks in Gamora’s hair—and their spaceship even looks just like the one in the movie. Not only that, but the promo’s tagline (“They’re a little good, a little bad, a little bit of both.”) is a reference to a line that Chris Pratt’s Quill says at the end.
So, even though the animated adventures of Star-Lord won’t impact Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, the message of this promo is still very clear: If you liked the movie, you will like this show. The storyline will reportedly involve the Guardians on a mission to find and destroy an all-powerful weapon, and along the way they’ll cross paths with Thanos, the Collector, a talking dog named Cosmo, Loki, and even a resurrected version of Ronan, the villain of the Guardians movie. But, once again, this is not MCU canon. It just looks and sounds a lot like MCU canon.
Guardians Of The Galaxy will premiere on Disney XD on September 5, and you can see the promo below.
