It seems like only yesterday that audiences were treated to the campy love letter to both Groundhog Day and the slasher subgenre that is Christopher B. Landon’s Happy Death Day. But believe it or not, it’s a little over a year later, and the trailer for the sequel Happy Death Day 2 U has been revealed. It looks as though the horror-movie tropes are back and in full, purposeful force: Tree has to relive the day she relived in Happy Death Day all over again in order to protect everyone, as the “Groundhog Day effect” that has now infected her boyfriend Carter, Carter’s roommate, and the Kappa Pi Lambda sorority sisters.
Happy Death Day 2U will bring déjà vu to a theater near you on February 14, 2019.
