The Jesus And Mary Chain to play SXSW, handful of U.S. dates
Stormy shoegazers The Jesus And Mary Chain have announced plans to reunite for a few select U.S. tour dates that will culminate in an appearance at this year’s SXSW. It will be the first time the band has played North America since a series of 2007 and 2008 festival dates kicked off at Coachella—and a performance that gained a lot of Internet traction thanks to some guest-lowing from Scarlett Johansson—and at least the fourth or fifth time Jim and William Reid have spoken to each other this decade. They’ll be joined by Psychocandy-era drummer turned guitarist John Moore, the bassist they inherited from Lush, Phil King, and hopefully no actresses. Tickets for the two non-festival shows will presumably be announced sometime soon via the band’s website.
Tour dates:
March 11 — Denton, TX, 35 Denton Festival
March 12 — New Orleans, LA, House Of Blues
March 13 — Houston, TX, House Of Blues
March 14 to 17 (specific date TBA) — Austin, TX, SXSW
