As we all know, making a movie is a wonderous and complex process. It is much, much more than the simple equation of script + actors + director + celluloid = film. There are quite a few less tangible elements at play–a certain chemistry, a mysterious magic, a beautiful synchronicity that occurs when great artists converge to create something worthwhile together.
Of course, as was the case with Lily Tomlin and David O. Russell on the set of I Heart Huckabees, sometimes it can just be everyone yelling, throwing parts of the set around, and calling each other "cunt":
The highlight for me is when Russell walks off the set in a huff, and then storms back in through a different door, still yelling. No matter what you think of Russell as a director, that moment couldn't have been choreographed better.
