The other Franco joins that 21 Jump Street remake we keep telling you about
Dave Franco, the projected Jungian shadow self to older “brother” James Franco, has been cast as one of the main villains in that Jonah Hill-starring 21 Jump Street reboot that we keep telling you about, only to be greeted with uniformly blank expressions. The smaller, relatively undernourished Franco—perhaps still best known for starring in various Funny Or Die videos, and the unnecessarily mean nickname "Franco Stallone" that we've been floating quietly—will play a high school big man on campus who also happens to be a drug dealer, making him a primary target for the undercover narcs being played by Hill and Channing Tatum. In keeping with the original series, all of these people are way too old to be playing high school kids, something that will likely be acknowledged in a winking, self-aware way.
Franco joins a cast that also includes Brie Larson, Ice Cube (playing a commanding officer whom, we’ll assume, is too old for this shit), and The Daily Show’s Rob Riggle, who is reportedly close to signing on as the main villain: a member of Dads Against Drugs who is secretly the town’s biggest supplier, a plot twist that The Hollywood Reporter already spoiled for everyone, so we’ll just assume it doesn’t really matter? And naturally, plans are already underway for original series star Johnny Depp to cameo in some capacity. Meanwhile, Richard Grieco sits by the phone, his idle fingers twisting his 40-page treatment for an If Looks Could Kill reboot.
