Emma is out of the headlock, but she's not out of the woods in her shift just yet.

Dana and Dr. Robby debate last week's headlock in an exclusive preview clip from The Pitt

The staff at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center is having one of the hardest days ever, other than, perhaps, the day they had last season. Within the first 12 hours of their shifts, they’ve dealt with a waterpark collapse, an ICE presence, a panic attack, a cyber attack, and, at the end of last week’s episode, a physical attack. New nurse Emma was placed in a headlock by a drunk and spooked golfer when she accidentally woke him up while visiting his room. The episode faded to black as we were left to wonder what would happen next.

Obviously, Emma is more or less okay, if still a little shaken up, as an exclusive clip from tonight’s episode confirms. The scene follows what looks like the immediate aftermath of Emma getting free from the drunk golfer’s grasp. Dana, as is her wont, takes up the mama bear role for her nurses while Dr. Robby, as has been the case for much of this season, acts strangely dismissive of his staff’s concerns, though his concerns about the alcohol-and-medication cocktail in his patient’s gut do seem fair.

There are four episodes left in this season of The Pitt. Last week also teased the potential of Dr. Langdon’s previous addiction becoming wider knowledge, as Dr. Al-Hashimi overheard Dr. Santos airing his dirty laundry in the ED. Also: Will we ever hear from that poor waitress who had her leg amputated ever again?

The Pitt returns to HBO Max tonight at 9 pm ET.
