Following accusations of sexual misconduct against writer Neil Gaiman, all the adaptations of his work and other projects are being swept under the rug or quickly wrapped up. That includes The Sandman, though showrunner Allan Heinberg continues to maintain that two seasons was always the plan. But not before one last special bonus episode, airing July 31, billed as “Chapter 12”: The Sandman Presents: Death: The High Cost of Living. (That excessive amount of colons comes straight from Netflix, by the way.)

Announcement of bonus episode, which will follow Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), comes alongside newly released episode titles for the final season. As previously reported, Netflix is pulling its favorite move and dropping the season in two separate “Volumes,” with the first half premiering July 3 and the second half premiering July 24. Per a press release, the new installments “will adapt fan-favorite storylines from many of the most beloved comics, including the Season of Mists, Brief Lives, The Kindly Ones, and The Sandman: Overture, collections, along with beloved single-issue stories such as ‘Tales in the Sand,’ ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream,’ ‘The Song of Orpheus,’ ‘Thermidor,’ and ‘The Tempest,’ among others.” However, Tudum promises that “even diehard fans of the comics who know Dream’s full arc as it exists on the page are in for some surprises.”

The Sandman second season teaser released earlier this year showed Dream (Tom Sturridge) reconvening with his siblings Death, Desire (Mason Alexander Park), Despair (Donna Preston), Destiny (Adrian Lester), and Delirium (Esmé Creed-Miles). In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Heinberg shared that “the entirety of the second season” is focused on “how to reckon his idea of who he is with who he was to all the people in his life.” He explained, “Dream has a very secure narrative about who he is, what his story is, what other people have done to him, and what he’s done to them. But he’s the hero of that story. In season 2, he realizes, ‘Oh! I’m the bad guy in Nada’s [Deborah Oyelade] story, I’m the bad guy in Lyta’s [Razane Jammal] story, I’m the bad guy in my son’s story [Ruairi O’Connor as Orpheus]. And it rocks him.” You can check out the full list of The Sandman episode titles below.
