The Walking Dead (AMC, 7:30 p.m.): In our favorite season of the year—full of crunchy leaves, the crisp smell of apples, and ghouls around every corner—it seems only appropriate that The Walking Dead should make its triumphant return for its eighth season. From the summary: “Rick and his group, along with the Kingdom and Hilltop, band together to bring the fight to Negan and the Saviors”—so, sounds like business as usual. Good thing Zack Handlen was in zombie-fighting training camp all summer.
Bob’s Burgers (Fox, 7:30 p.m.)
The Simpsons (Fox, 8 p.m.)
Outlander (Starz, 8 p.m.): Special 75-minute episode
Ghosted (Fox, 8:30 p.m.)
Star Trek: Discovery (CBS All Access, 8:30 p.m.)
The Deuce (HBO, 9 p.m.)
The Last Man On Earth (Fox, 9:30 p.m.)
Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO, 10 p.m.)
Vice Principals (HBO, 10:30 p.m.)
iZombie (The CW, streaming): If you like your zombie shows on the lighter side, check out The CW’s contribution. On A.V. Club favorite iZombie, Rose McIver plays an afflicted undead who takes on the traits of the dead people’s brains she eats (fortunately, she works in a morgue). Judging from the season-four Comic-Con trailer above, the zombie revolution is set to bust wide open. So before the series returns in 2018, why not take advantage of The CW’s streaming site to get caught up on the first three seasons? If we’ve learned one thing from all these zombie shows, it’s that it pays to be prepared.
